On average, Iran exports $600 million worth of goods to African countries a year, Director General of Trade Promotion Organization of Iran’s (TPOI) Arabic-African Affairs Office Farzad Piltan told ILNA, Trend reports.
Piltan said that Iran exported goods worth about $573 million to African countries during the first six months of the current Iranian year (March 21through September 22, 2021).
“Meanwhile, in the last Iranian year (March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021), the value of Iran's exports to African countries amounted to $580 million,” he added.
The director general noted that Iran's main importers in Africa are Ghana, Algeria, Kenya, South Africa, Somalia, Tanzania, Cameroon, Mozambique, Nigeria and Côte d'Ivoire.
According to him, Iran mainly exported iron and steel ingots, urea, fittings, cement, raisins, cereal products, sweets, chocolate, pistachios and footwear to African countries.
Piltan stressed that Iran exported $26 million worth of goods from African countries in 6 months. The figure stood at about $96 million in the same period last Iranian year.
“The main African countries, which export goods to Iran are Eswatini, Tanzania, Ghana, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Ethiopia, Egypt, Morocco and Sudan,” he said.
The director general added that Iran mainly imports corn feed, manganese stone and concentrate, tobacco, tea, mining equipment, peas and so on from African countries.
