Iranian government will buy renewable energy at price of 443 rials per kilowatt, from the private sector.
Iranian Energy Minister Hamid Chitchian said that if Iranian households, especially in provinces like Sistan and Baluchistan, will install a small wind turbine in their homes, they can save a lot of money, Iran's IRIB News Agency reported on April 29.
IRIB reported that Iran's total renewable energy production capacity stands at 200 megawatt. It is while according to Chitchian, wind energy accounts for 100 megawatt of the mentioned period.
"The world's total wind energy generation capacity is around 283,000 megawatt," Iranian minister said.
Iran's power generation capacity is currently over 70 gigawatts.
The country currently trades power with Turkey, Armenia, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Syria, and Iraq.
Iran seeks to become a major regional exporter of electricity and has attracted more than $1.1 billion in investments for the construction of three new power plants.
