While implementing the project for creating a gas chemical complex in Kiyanly village of Turkmenistan's Balkan province, it is planned to carry out up to 80 percent of the construction work, the country's Oil and Gas Ministry said.
To date, the contractors have carried out 70 percent of the construction work.
The enterprises in Kiyanly are meant to process 5 billion cubic meters of natural gas, produce 386,000 tons of polyethylene and 81,000 tons of polypropylene per year. The remaining 4.5 billion cubic meters of gas will be sent to gas pipelines.
The State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs of Turkmenistan signed a loan agreement worth of over $2.5 billion with Japan Bank for International Cooperation, the Export-Import Bank of Korea and the syndicate of the participating financial institutions of Japan, Germany, France, South Korea, China, Italy, Austria and Switzerland in June of 2014.
Currently, over 8,000 workers, engineering and technical personnel, tens of foreign and local construction companies which involve specialists from South Korea, Japan, Turkey, the Philippines, Malaysia and Turkmenistan, are participating in the project's implementation.
After completing the construction of the gas chemical complex, around 1,000 jobs will be created there.
It is planned to commission the complex in September of 2018.
