By Fakhri Vakilov –Trend:

A new gas chemical complex worth some $5.27 billion will appear in the Baysun district of the Surkhandarya region of Uzbekistan, Trend reports with reference to the press service of the President of Uzbekistan.

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Baysun district and familiarized himself with the progress of the project, which envisages the exploration and development of the Mustakilliqing 25 gas field and the further construction of the gas-chemical complex.

Currently, 3D seismic exploration continues at the gas field. Specialists of foreign companies “Baker Hughes”, “Halliburton” and “Schlumberger” work on the object.

The project will consist of two stages:

- For 2018-2022 it is planned to build a processing plant with an annual capacity of 5 billion cubic meters per year.

- For 2023-2025, it is planned to build a gas-chemical complex capable of producing 500,000 tons of polymer products per year by processing 1.5 billion cubic meters of gas. After the project implementation, 2,200 jobs will be created.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed to accelerate exploration and begin construction of the external infrastructure and gas processing plant

The Production Sharing Agreement (PSA) regarding the Uzbekistan Mustaqilligi investment block with the exploration and development of the Mustakilliqing 25 yilligi field was signed during the visit of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Russia in April 2017.

All the PSA for the development of the gas field "25 years of independence" with the construction of a gas processing facility is estimated at $ 5.8 billion. The project is designed for 35 years.

The project being implemented in Baysun will allow the complex development of the southern regions of the country and will be another impetus for the development of the fuel and energy, chemical industries, the construction industry and the transport infrastructure.
