Representatives of India officially presented a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation with Uzbekistan in nuclear energy training, Trend reports citing the Uzbek media.
On March 11, 2020, the Uzatom Agency held a meeting with Indian Ambassador to Uzbekistan Santosh Jha to discuss the development of cooperation in the fuel and energy complex (FEC) of Uzbekistan, including the peaceful use of nuclear energy.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the agreements reached following the visit of Uzatom's delegation to India in February 2020 to study India's experience in building nuclear power plants and establish bilateral cooperation in implementing the state nuclear energy program.
During the meeting, the Indian side officially presented a draft Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Global Center for Nuclear Energy Cooperation (GCNEP, India) and the Uzatom Agency in the field of nuclear energy training.
GCNEP was established in 2010 under the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India. The Center has five schools focusing on nuclear energy and safety research, radiological safety studies, nuclear material characteristics and application of radioisotopes and radiation technologies.
The ambassador also informed that India has been developing nuclear medicine and application of nuclear technologies in agro-industrial complex as well as participation of Indian companies in energy projects, in particular in construction of renewable energy facilities and modernization of thermal power plants. At the same time, the Indian side mentioned an opportunity to present grants for the introduction of solar panels for Uzbekistan.
The Uzbek side voiced an invitation to participate in investment projects and an invitation to equity participation, proposals made by chemical industry of Uzbekistan.
