Azerbaijan sees growth in nominal wages of hired workers

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 16. The average nominal wage for employed workers in Azerbaijan rose by 8.3 percent in the first seven months of 2024 compared to the same period last year, reaching 1,002.4 manat ($588).

Data obtained by Trend from the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan reveals that wages in the oil and gas sector amounted to 3,782.9 manat (about $2,222), while in the non-oil sector, the average wage was 950.6 manat ($557). Employees in state enterprises earned an average of 958.7 manat ($561), whereas those in private enterprises received 1,048.5 manat ($613).

The highest wages were reported in the mining sector, insurance and finance, information and communication, as well as scientific and technical activities.

In 2023, the average nominal wage for employed workers in Azerbaijan increased by 11.2 percent compared to 2022, reaching 933.8 manats ($547).
