The Uzbek government has agreed to establish an ICT development fund.
According to a decision of the Cabinet of Ministers, the ICT development fund will be established in the form of a non-profit organisation to finance priority and social projects, research in the field of communication development and information and telecommunication technologies.
According to the decree, the fund's money will be accumulated due to 50 per cent of the funds obtained from the state fee for issuing licenses to carry out activities in the field of telecommunications, and 30 per cent from fees for using the subscriber's number.
The fund will also receive 45 per cent of funds collected in the form of fines from legal entities operating in the communications sector.
Only legal entities irrespective of their ownership and operating in the republic with the appropriate licenses can be beneficiaries.
The fund's money will be allocated in the form of gratuitous financial investments and grants, targeted grant funding within approved cost estimates, loans allocated by the fund for the development projects in the field of communications and information and telecommunication technology.
