Bandwidth of the external internet channel of Uzbekistan reached 140.034 Gbps, which is 1.5 times more than the figures in early 2018 (94.034 Gbps), Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications of Uzbekistan stated.
According to the statement, since the beginning of 2018, 690 kilometers of fiber-optic communication lines (FOCLs) have been laid, 1,004 base stations have been installed and put into operation, including 483 using 3G and 4G LTE technology. Total length of the FOCLs is 24,500 kilometers, and the total number of base stations is almost 21,000.
For the first six month of 2018, 176 companies have passed the selection Mirzo Ulugbek Innovation Center and have received the status of residents. The total number of residents is 319 companies, with the number of employees now exceeding 2,600 people.
During 2018, the capacity of the external internet channel will be increased 8-10 times and will exceed 1 Tbps. Another 2,000 kilometers of fiber-optic communication lines will be laid till the end of 2018.
Farhod Roziev, CEO of Uzbektelecom JSC, earlier said that Uzbekistan will increase the capacity of its external internet channel to 1,200 Gbps by the end of 2018.
“We do not promise to immediately launch 20-30-50-Mbps internet in every apartment. This will take more time. But those will be “real” megabits, which will exist not only on paper, but in practice. We are planning to introduce new affordable prices, an updated package of services and the most simplified tariff logic,” Roziev said.
