BAKU, Azerbaijan, Apr.3
By Sadraddin Aghjayev – Trend:
Azerbaijan and Belarus discussed trade and economic cooperation, Trend reports citing the Belarusian media.
The discussions took place in the course of the meeting between Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus, Igor Petrishenko, and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan to Belarus, Latif Gandilov.
During the meeting, Petrishenko said that the two countries have a high potential for trade and economic cooperation in mechanical engineering, construction and the energy sector.
“Strong collaboration between our countries was carried out at a time when we faced certain problems regarding oil supplies - and Azerbaijan had offered a companionship. The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) together with the Belarusian Belneftekhim concern worked out the logistics in a short period of time,” the deputy PM noted.
As Petrishenko said, the cooperation base of the Azerbaijani Ganja Automobile Plant will re-establish the dynamics of collaboration.
“We want this project to get a new breath and work at full capacity. Our country is ready to supply trains for the Baku Metro,” the deputy PM stressed.
Besides production cooperation and supplies, cooperation in the field of agriculture is also actively developing, the Belarusian official stated.
“Our products have proven themselves well in the Azerbaijani market. In particular, consumers are very fond of Belarusian dairy products. We are grateful for this and are trying to keep the brand,” he said.
Petrishenko reminded that the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Belarus in 2020 amounted to $447 million despite the coronavirus pandemic.
