Some 1.5 million hectares of grain and legume crops have been harvested in Kazakhstan since the beginning of the year, Acting Minister of Agriculture Yerbol Karashukeev said, Trend reports referring to Kazinform international news agency.
“The harvesting campaign this year has begun on time, and as of today, 1.5 million hectares of grain and leguminous crops have been harvested throughout the republic, or 9.9 percent of their total harvesting area in these regions,” Karashukeev noted.
It is reported that with an average yield of 10.0 centners per hectare, 1.5 million tons of grain have been threshed. According to Karashukeev, the main grain-sowing regions will start mass harvesting from the third decade of this month.
“By the beginning of the mass harvesting operations, agricultural producers had prepared all the necessary equipment. In general, there are 141,700 tractors, 73,500 tractor-trailers, 36,900 grain harvesters, 12,800 reapers for harvesting operations in the republic. In order to exclude a long stoppage of work, agricultural producers have formed repair teams. Appropriate work has been carried out with service companies to strengthen their field service, as well as to fill the warehouses with the necessary spare parts,” Karashukeev said.
Some 396,500 tons of preferential diesel fuel were allocated for the timely harvesting of agricultural enterprises.
“Together with the Ministry of Energy, a schedule has been approved for assigning regional operators to refineries. The July volumes have been completely selected by the regions. The August volumes are currently being shipped. For the period of harvesting, the akimats (administrations) of the regions need to ensure constant control over the work of the operators for the timely shipment of fuel to the peasants," Karashukeev concluded.
