The gross harvest of grain and oilseeds is planned to be brought to the level of 18 million tons in Kazakhstan, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin said at a meeting of the Government, Trend reports citing the Kazakh media.
“The worldwide grain harvesting situation remains difficult. This is due to bad weather conditions. In Kazakhstan, the gross harvest of grain and oilseeds is planned to be brought to the level of 18 million tons, including 16 million tons of grain and legumes,” Mamin stressed.
The PM said that about 95 percent of the harvesting work has already been completed.
“Despite the decrease in the volume of grain due to the drought this year, the country's domestic demand for grain is fully met. There is a possibility of selling grain volumes for export of 6 - 6.5 million tons,” the Kazakh official added.
“The quality indicators of the new harvest have grown substantially. The volume of wheat with gluten over 28 percent reached 74 percent of the harvested volume,” Mamin noted.
He added that wheat of this class is in high demand in the global market.
