Above two million passengers benefited from trains in Kazakhstan

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, July 21. Trains belonging to Kazakhstan’s "Passenger Transportation" JSC have transported more than 2.1 million people from June 1 through July 20, 2023, Trend reports.

As noted by the company, the highest demand for railway transport occurs in Kazakhstan during the summer, accounting for 32 percent of the total annual passenger turnover.

In 2022, the carrier served 13.9 million passengers. Last year, during the three summer months alone, the company transported 4.4 million passengers, averaging over a million passengers per month.

In terms of seasonal distribution, 23 percent, or 3.3 million passengers, used the railway services during autumn, 20 percent, or 2.8 million passengers, during winter, and 25 percent, or 3.4 million passengers, during spring.

Meanwhile, Kazakhstan's Bureau of National Statistics reported that the country's railways transported 9.6 million passengers from January through June 2023, which is 1.9 fewer than in the same period in 2022.

A total of 202.2 million tons of goods were transported by Kazakhstan’s railways in the first half of 2023, which is a decrease of 1.9 percent year-on-year.
