WB ready to assist Kyrgyzstan in construction of solar power plant

BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 26. International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, is ready to assist Kyrgyzstan in construction of a solar power plant, Trend reports via Ministry of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan.

During the meeting on November 25, Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan Kanat Abdrakhmanov discussed with IFC's Senior Regional Manager for Central Asia Cassandra Colbert the implementation of current and planned projects.

Colbert announced IFC's readiness to implement a pilot public-private partnership (PPP) project on construction and operation of a solar power plant with a capacity of 100 MW.

As the Ministry notes, IFC through this project will assist Kyrgyzstan in structuring and implementing a PPP deal for the energy sector.

Abdrakhmanov stressed that this pilot project will improve the reliability of electricity supply by increasing the installed generating capacity in Kyrgyzstan and stimulate economic development by promoting private investment.
