BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, September 4. A total of 1.020 million tons of milk were produced in Kyrgyzstan from January through July 2023, which is 2.1 percent more than in the same period of 2022 (999,200 tons), Trend reports.
The country’s State Statistical Committee’s data shows that the highest milk production was recorded in the Chuy region, totaling 251,870 tons, which is 2.7 percent higher than in January-July 2022.
Milk production by regions:
Chuy region: 251,870 tons
Jalal-Abad region: 213,920 tons
Osh region: 209,540 tons
Issyk-Kul region: 154,470 tons
Naryn region: 80,860 tons
Batken region: 56,790 tons
Talas region: 44,400 tons
Osh city: 2.28 tons
Bishkek city: 21 tons.
The average milk yield per cow reached 1,144 kg. Above the country's average, higher milk yields were observed in the farms of the Chuy (1,700 kg), Talas (1,305 kg), and Issyk-Kul (1,155 kg) regions.
The dairy industry of Kyrgyzstan is one of the leading industries in processing sector of Kyrgyz economy. Annual milk production in Kyrgyzstan amounted 1.734 million tons in 2022, which is 7.7 percent more than in 2021.
