BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, May 22. The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) will support Kyrgyzstan in building a bypass road around Uzgen town, Trend reports.

According to the EDB, the agreement to support the implementation of the construction and maintenance of a bypass road around Uzgen town using the Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) mechanism and funds from the Technical Assistance Fund (TAF) of the EDB was signed following a meeting between Nikolai Podguzov, Chairman of the Management Board of the bank, and Akylbek Japarov, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan.

The project aims to develop the road sector and improve transportation accessibility in the Osh region, ensuring a high level of road safety and enhancing the environmental situation in Uzgen, including through the introduction of new information technologies for toll road management.

According to Podguzov, the construction of the bypass road around Uzgen city will contribute to the development of the country's road sector and transportation accessibility.

"We are very pleased to contribute to the sustainable development of Kyrgyzstan and support important socio-economic initiatives in the country," he concluded.

In 2023, the EDB allocated $92 million for new investment projects in Kyrgyzstan, marking a record amount since the Bank began its operations in the country.
