DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, April 29. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will assist Tajikistan in developing the women entrepreneurs finance code, Trend reports.
According to the bank, the corresponding memorandum was signed by the Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan, Firdavs Tolibzoda, and the President of the EBRD, Odile Renaud-Basso.
The finance code for women entrepreneurs is a list of commitments from financial service providers, regulatory bodies, development banks, and other stakeholders who jointly plan to increase financial support for micro, small, and medium enterprises led by women.
It is noted that this globally recognized approach involving multiple stakeholders will help remove barriers limiting financing for women entrepreneurs in Tajikistan and make a significant contribution to economic development.
"Together, we will seek to engage public and private partners in Tajikistan's financial sector to improve the collection, analysis, and use of data related to the financial inclusivity of women-led enterprises," remarked Odile Renaud-Basso.
She added that this will help reduce the financing gap for women entrepreneurs and provide innovative solutions to mobilize the capital needed for their growth.
The current project portfolio of the EBRD in Tajikistan amounted to 507 million euros as of February 29, 2024, for the completion of 72 active projects. In 2020, the EBRD invested 131 million euros in Tajikistan's projects, followed by 56 million euros in 2021 and 21 million euros both in 2022 and 2023. Overall, the EBRD allocated 947 million euros for 168 projects across the country.
