Turkmen presidential election results to be announced at Cabinet meeting

Final voting results will be summed up soon and made public according to national legislation at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Turkmen government said on Tuesday.

At present, the final calculation of votes is underway with the data from some polling stations at diplomatic and consular missions of Turkmenistan abroad and namely ballot papers delayed due to time differences associated with the location of countries in different time zones.

According to preliminary data announced by the country's CEC on Monday, incumbent President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov has been elected for a second term. The current presidential campaign was fought between eight candidates, but President Berdimuhammadov won 97.14 per cent of the votes.

Lists of the world cities where polling stations were opened under Turkmenistan diplomatic missions are:

Abu Dhabi (UAE), Astana (Kazakhstan), Ankara and Istanbul (Turkey), Baku (Azerbaijan), Berlin (Germany), Brussels (Belgium) Bucharest (Romania), Vienna (Austria), Dushanbe (Tajikistan), Geneva (Switzerland), New York and Washington (USA), New Delhi (India), Beijing (China), Yerevan (Armenia), Moscow (Russia), London (United Kingdom), Tehran and Mashhad (Iran), Islamabad (Pakistan ), Kiev (Ukraine), Paris (France), Minsk (Belarus), Kabul, Herat and Mazar-i-Sharif (Afghanistan), Tashkent (Uzbekistan) and Riyadh (Saudi Arabia).
