ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, September 18. Several German companies are interested in cooperation in the transportation and logistics sector of Turkmenistan, Trend reports via Turkmenistan's official media.
According to the information, cooperation was discussed at the meeting of Turkmenistan President Serdar Berdimuhamedov with heads of German companies within the framework of the Central Asia-Germany summit in Astana.
“The Turkmen-German business forum held in Berlin last year outlined important benchmarks for transport and logistics projects, in this regard, I propose to continue the dialog in this direction,” the head of state said.
The representatives of the companies expressed interest in the participation of German businesses in infrastructure projects of Turkmenistan, including the utilization of port facilities on the Caspian Sea.
Furthermore, it was proposed to establish a service center for the maintenance of Liebherr equipment at the international seaport of Turkmenbashi, which will allow training local specialists to service cargo ships and equipment.
The parties discussed cooperation in the modernization of Turkmenistan's railroads, taking into account the interests of Deutsche Bahn. The sides expressed readiness for a substantive discussion of this issue.
To note, the second summit “Central Asia - Germany” in “5+1” format was held in Astana on September 17, 2024, within the framework of which the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with the heads of major companies and members of the official delegation of Germany.
