Important Uzbek-Chinese intergovernmental documents signed in Tashkent

On Monday, Chinese President Xi Jinping and the President of Uzbekistan signed a treaty of friendship and cooperation between the two countries and a joint declaration on the further development and deepening of the bilateral strategic partnership.

The documents were signed in the first state visit of Chinese President to Uzbekistan.

In total during the visit, the two countries signed 31 documents on joint implementation of projects with a total value of more than $ 15 billion, in which the financial resources of the PRC will be around $7.7 billion.

As the President Islam Karimov reported at the ceremony, "since 2002, with the participation of Chinese investments, 83 investment projects totaling $ 6.75 billion were implemented, a number of major facilities were commissioned and that ensures the structural changes in the economy."

Currently, 455 companies in Uzbekistan operate with Chinese investment, of them 70 companies operate with a wholly Chinese capital, representatives of 71 Chinese companies are accredited.

Chinese companies are involved in projects of exploration and exploitation of deposits of hydrocarbons, uranium and other precious materials, in the project of gas chemical complex in Mubarek and other high-tech industries.

For 2012, the trade turnover between the countries increased by 25 percent compared to 2011 and amounted to $3.4 billion, and in the first half of 2013 increased by 1.6 times compared to the same period last year - up to $2.3 billion.
