Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said that Iran is ready to talk about one of three disputed Gulf islands, Abu Musa, Fars news agency reported on Dec.1.
Zarif made the remarks during a press conference in Kuwait after talks with his Kuwaiti counterpart, Sheikh Sabah al-Hamad al-Sabah.
Abu Musa and the Greater and Lesser Tunbs are controlled by Iran, and claimed by both the United Arab Emirates and the Islamic Republic.
The islands were part of the Trucial States and under British rule but upon independence from Britain in 1971 when the UAE created, Iran took control of the islands.
