A 35-member Russian oil delegation consisting of the representatives of several leading companies has recently paid a visit to Iran to study opportunities for investment in the Islamic Republic’s oil sector, an Iranian oil official said.
Gholamreza Manouchehri, a deputy head at National Iranian Oil Company, has said that his company signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) with three Russian oil companies of Lukoil, Zarubezhneft and Tatneft on cooperation, IRNA news agency reported.
Gholamreza Manouchehri expressed hope that the MoUs would turn into final contracts in near future.
The official further added that the Russian delegation was briefed on Iran’s new model of oil and gas contracts and opportunities for investment in the country’s upstream sector of oil industry.
Earlier in November, Russia’s Deputy Energy Minister Kirill Molodtsov said that Moscow and Tehran were in talks over a potential exclusive presentation of Iran’s oil and gas contracts to Russian companies.
