Georgia’s Dio, an industrial company, plans to expand export opportunities with the support of the Bank of Georgia and the USAID within the Economic Security Program, Trend reports via Georgian media.
“At this stage, Dio’s goal is to expand the consumer sector and production. We also plan to start exporting our products in the nearest future. The involvement in the joint project of the Bank of Georgia and the USAID, and qualified export advice provided, was very important for us,” Irma Daushvili, the founder of the company, said.
The experience gained within the USAID Economic Security Program helped us to properly define export markets and develop an action plan, she added.
“We are pleased that with the joint efforts of us and USAID, we are able to assist Dio in implementing its future plans. Bank of Georgia will continue to actively support local businesses in the future,” Zurab Masurashvili, the Head of SMEs at the Bank of Georgia, said.
“This project offers practical services to Georgian entrepreneurs, including opportunities to strengthen market ties, access to international standards and finance small and medium-sized businesses. One of the initiatives of the USAID Economic Security Program is to provide timely, practical assistance to the economic sectors, the employment of highly qualified staff, and the promotion of economic growth,” Mark McCord, the USAID Economic Security Program Officer, said.
According to USAID, currently, the organization is cooperating with the Bank of Georgia through the BizLink project within the USAID Economic Security Program, which is aimed at Georgia’s light industry enterprises support.
“Through this partnership, we are providing business development services to small and medium-sized enterprises to help them attract capital, grow their businesses, create new jobs, and in some cases access new export markets for their products,” the USAID said.
