A magnitude-6.1 earthquake struck central Japan Monday night, the Meteorological Agency said.
No immediate casualties or damage were reported and no tsunami warning was issued, DPA reported.
The quake jolted the region at 11:58 pm (1458 GMT) with its seismic centre in Suruga Bay, off Shizuoka prefecture, at a depth of 20 kilometres, the agency said.
On March 11, a magnitude-9 earthquake and resulting tsunami hit north-eastern Japan, leaving more than 15,600 dead and nearly 5,000 missing.
