A man identified in media reports as the Kenyan half brother of the US president's late father was arrested for drunk driving in Massachusetts, according to media reports Monday.
Obama Onyango, 67, was arrested in Framingham after nearly striking a cop car last week, according to the Boston Herald newspaper, which quoted officials, dpa reported.
Framingham police could not be reached by dpa for comment.
The Herald, quoting officials, reported that Onyango was held without bail because he is wanted on a federal immigration warrant.
In May, 2010, Onyango's sister, Zeituni Onyango, 57, was granted asylum by an immigration court after entering the US illegally. She argued that the political situation in Kenya was too dangerous for her to return to the country.
The two Onyangos are the half-siblings of the deceased father of US President Barack Obama.
In the past, the White House has said it had not gotten involved in the Zeituni Onyango case.
