Azerbaijan, Baku, 26 February / Trend corr G. Jabiyev/ Azerbaijan's opposition Azadlig bloc believes that the decision of the leading opposition parties to take part in the presidential elections will decrease the efficiency of the decision to boycott the elections. "Participation in the elections of such parties as the Azerbaijan Democratic Party (ADP) and Musavat will enable legitimacy of the elections," the Azadlig co-chair Ali Aliyev, who is the head of the Citizen and Development Party, told Trend on 26 February.
In October, Azerbaijan will hold presidential elections. Many opposition parties, including Musavat and ADP, intend to nominate their candidates for the elections. Three opposition parties - the Popular Front Party, the Liberal Party and the Citizen and Development Party (united into the Azadlig bloc) decided to boycott the elections. Azadlig urges to change the composition of the election committees.
"We realize the difficulty of the decision to boycott the elections. We take this decision because there was no other way for us. Even if the ADP, Musavat and other parties join the elections, we will not change out mind. We decided to do that not for the sake of any profits," he said.
