Energy Co-operation Memorandum between European Union and Azerbaijan Will be Signed in Brussels

On November 7-8, the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev intends to hold negotiations in Brussels with the heads of the European Union, NATO and Belgium, the Azerbaijani Ambassador to Belgium and European Union Arif Mammadov exclusively told Trend. According to him, the State Head is expected to arrive in Brussels in the evening of November 6. On November 7, it is intended to hold meetings with the Secretary General of the EU Council of Ministers, EU High Commissioner for Foreign Policy and Defense Javier Solana, the President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso, EU Commissioner for Energy Andris Piebalgs and to have a working dinner with the deputies of the European Parliament. It is implied to sign an Energy Co-operation Memorandum between the European Union and Azerbaijan. Moreover, Aliyev is expected to meet with the Chairman of the Belgian Parliament Anne-Marie Lizin and make a speech in the Royal International Relations Institute (in Edmund palace).

On November 8, it is planed to visit the Headquarter of the NATO and hold a meeting with the NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer), to make a speech in the Council of the organization and hold a political briefing. In addition, it is implied to hold meetings with the Belgian Prime Minister, Guy Verhofstadt, and Belgian Foreign Minister, OSCE Chairman-in-Office Karel de Gucht.
