Georgia's government has done everything possible to stimulate foreign direct investment, said Georgian Prime Minister George Gakharia, Trend reports via Georgian media.
In this regard, the prime minister noted that the reconstruction of one of the terminals of the Poti por will begin in the near future.
According to him, the availability of ports with modern infrastructure is extremely important for the country.
“Direct investment in the reconstruction is ensured by the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), and $30 million have already been allocated for this project. The total cost of this project is $98 million. Work will begin in the coming days,” said the prime minister.
The head of government added that direct foreign investment is extremely important for Georgia.
In addition, Gakharia emphasized that,l despite the state of emergency introduced in Georgia, systemic infrastructure projects funded by the state continued.
“This project will allow to process at least 2.5 million tons of dry bulk cargo and 100,000 containers. This is a very important project for the development of our port infrastructure,” said Natia Turnava, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.
She also noted that the Georgian government is doing everything possible to ensure the smooth running of large state and private infrastructure projects.
Meanwhile, the implementation of the Poti port terminal project is foreseen in two phases.
