Azerbaijani Airlines (AZAL) is interested in flying the Baku-Batumi route, an AZAL official in Georgia said.
The company currently flies the Baku-Tbilisi route and plans to launch flights to Batumi early in the resort season.
The Adjarian regional head and AZAL management reached a preliminary agreement on the issue.
AZAL will appeal to Georgian transport officials for permission soon, the official said.
