The plant will produce the first electric KZ8A locomotives in Astana in March 2014, Alstom company vice-president Bernard Gonnet told reporters in Moscow.
"The certification of the first electric locomotive will end in 2014," Gonnet said at the IV international salon of railway equipment and technology EXPO 1520 in Moscow. "The first locomotives were manufactured in France. The first locomotives, to be produced at the plant, will appear in March 2014."
According to the president of Kazakhstan Temir Joly company ( Kazakhstan Railways ) Askar Mamin, KZ8A electric locomotives are being tested today.
"We will deliver them not only to the Kazakh domestic market, but also to the foreign markets from 2014," Mamin added. "Currently we are launching a new project for the production of diesel engines for electric locomotives."
"This modern electric locomotive with is fully computerized and has all the latest engineering advancements," Locomotive company president Marat Medeubaev said.
