Georgia temporarily closed the tunnel at the Rikoti pass connecting western and eastern Georgia due to the start of the second phase of the rehabilitation work.
The Regional Development and Infrastructure Ministry reported that, at a time of the reconstruction work, cars will move on the bypass road, which was reconstructed by the Ministry in 2010.
The tunnel will be commissioned later this year. The first phase was completed in November 2010.
