BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 29. A total of 3,969 twenty-foot containers (TEU) were transported along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR, or Middle Corridor) from January through April 2024, Trend reports via Railway Supply magazine.
According to the magazine, this figure is 2,835 TEU (or 250 percent) more than the figure for the same period in 2023.
The growth was mainly achieved due to the increased transit of Chinese cargo through TITR.
To note, the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route has been operational since 2014, with the most significant growth rates in cargo transportation observed in recent years.
In 2023, nearly 2.7 million tons of cargo were transported through TITR, with projections for 2024 aiming for 4.2 million tons.
