The social modernization is the key to solve the problems in Zhanaozen, Russian expert and political analyst Alexei Vlasov said.
"I think that it is necessary to avoid the prompt conclusions and wait for documents to be prepared by the commission on Zhanaozen," he told Trend over phone. "There is too much speculation on the subject."
The employees of oil companies have been striking in Mangistau region since May. The strikers demanded higher wages. The court found the protest illegal. The companies dismissed thousands of workers for participating in strikes. Some of the strikers returned to work. New employees were appointed. The companies said that as a result of the protest of workers, the volume of oil production may decrease.
Mass riots occurred in Zhanaozen on Dec. 16. About 14 people died and 90 were injured. The buildings and cars were burned. The property of physical and legal entities was destroyed.
Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev announced a state of emergency on December 17.
According to the Kazakh President's order, the governmental commission on Zhanaozen was created.
The commission must determine the amount of damage and take prompt actions to resolve the socio-economic, humanitarian and other problems that have arisen in connection with the riots in the city of Zhanaozen.
At the same time, in case of any official decision, it is obvious that the problems of social security are on the first plan.
"The authorities must correct the actions of its bodies and the business. It originally perceives the ideas of social responsibility.
Vlasov said that Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev made a wise decision, by raising the topic of social modernization as a key challenge. If it is not conducted, the whole post-Soviet area will turn into a battleground around the continuous labor disputes.
