ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 2. The Hungarian company Globalia plans to build solar power plants in a number of regions of Kazakhstan, said the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Trend reports.
As Tokayev noted, the cost of the solar power plant construction project is $150 million.
In addition, the President of Kazakhstan noted that, in order to further intensify the investment partnership, an agreement was reached on the joint implementation of several more projects.
"A list of mutually beneficial projects will be developed. In general, some work has already been done at the moment. In addition, next week a business forum will be held in Astana with the participation of entrepreneurs from the two countries," he said.
Hungary is one of the key trade and economic partners of Kazakhstan in Central and Eastern Europe. Bilateral trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Hungary amounted to $172.2 million in 2022.
Previously, an agreement on a joint venture with the French Total Eren for the construction of wind power plants in Kazakhstan with a total capacity of 1 GW was signed as part of the official visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to Astana. The project is supposed to be implemented in two stages. It is planned to introduce 300 MW of power in the first stage and then the remaining 700 MW.
By the end of 2022, there will be 130 renewable energy facilities operating in the Republic with an installed capacity of 2,400 MW (46 WPPs: 958 MW; 44 SPPs: 1148 MW; 37 HPPs: 280 MW; and 3 BioPPs: 1.77 MW). In 2023, 15 facilities with a total capacity of 276 MW will be commissioned.
