Kyrgyzstan notes decline in production output in mining sector

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, September 23. The production volume in Kyrgyzstan's mining sector amounted to 37.308 billion som ($442.8 million) from January through August 2024.

The data obtained by Trend from the country's National Statistics Committee shows that the physical volume of production decreased by 2.8 percent compared to January through August 2023.

The volume of mining production in August amounted to 5.032 billion som ($59.7 million), while the physical volume increased by 7.6 percent compared to August 2023.

During the first eight months of this year, the volumes of metal ores production decreased by five percent compared to January through August 2023, while crude oil and natural gas production decreased by 0.5 percent. At the same time, volumes of hard and brown coal (lignite) production increased by one percent, and production of other minerals increased by 26.8 percent.

To note, Kyrgyzstan produced industrial products worth 330.549 billion som ($3.9 billion) from January through August 2024. The physical volume in comparison with January-August 2023 increased by 0.7 percent.

Furthermore, the share of mining in the total volume of industrial production from January through August 2024 amounted to 11.3 percent, manufacturing - 76 percent, provision of electricity, gas, steam, and conditioned air - 11.6 percent, water supply, treatment, waste treatment, and receipt of secondary raw materials - 1.1 percent.
