DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, October 15. Industrial production in the Gorno-Badakhshan autonomous region of Tajikistan amounted to 160 million somoni ($15 million) from January through August 2024, which is a 36 percent increase compared to the same period last year, President Emomali Rahmon said, Trend reports via the presidential press service.

Rahmon made this statement during a meeting with regional leaders and activists. He noted that the volume of industrial production in the Gorno-Badakhshan reached 215 million somoni ($20 million) in 2023, a figure that is 3.5 times greater than in 1993.

Since gaining independence, the region has established over 100 new industrial enterprises, including 56 in the last two years alone. More than 100 small industrial enterprises have also been constructed and put into operation during this time.

The range of industrial products has expanded from 10 items in 1991 to over 60 today. However, Rahmon emphasized that the number of enterprises and the volume of industrial production still do not align with the region's industrial resources and potential.
