DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, December 3. Tajikistan imported fertilizers worth $54.36 million from the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) from January through September 2024, Trend reports.
According to Tajikistan's Customs Service, compared to the same period last year ($51.271 million), imports increased by 6 percent.
At the same time, fertilizer imports from non-CIS countries amounted to $1.16 million, showing a nearly 40 percent increase compared to $831,000 in the January-September 2023 period.
In total, for the first nine months of 2024, Tajikistan imported 203,139 tons of fertilizers worth $55.52 million.
According to the customs data, Tajikistan's trade turnover for the first nine months of 2024 reached $6.387 billion, a 25 percent increase compared to $5.103 billion during the same period in 2023.
Exports amounted to $1.349 billion, which is a 45 percent increase compared to $933.1 million in January-September 2023. Imports grew by 21 percent year-on-year, from $4.17 billion to $5.037 billion in the first three quarters of 2024.
Exports accounted for 21 percent of the country's total trade turnover, while imports made up 79 percent.
