DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, January 30. In 2024, Dushanbe International Airport in Tajikistan served 2.338 million passengers, which is an increase of 109,084 passengers, or a 5 percent growth, compared to 2023, announced Head of the country's Civil Aviation Agency Habibullo Nazarzoda during a press conference, Trend reports.
He noted that of the total, 1.161 million passengers arrived, while 1.177 million passengers departed. In 2024, the airport handled a total of 8,468 flights, of which 7,985 were regular and 483 were charter flights. The number of flights increased by 319, or 4 percent, compared to 2023.
Furthermore, the airport noted a total of 2,015 flight delays,
which marks an increase of 800 delays, or 66 percent, from the
previous year.
Nazarzoda also pointed out that there were 184 instances of baggage
damage or loss, marking a reduction of 5 incidents (a 2.6 percent
decrease) compared to 2023.
Dushanbe International Airport, established in 1924, serves as the primary international gateway in Dushanbe, the capital city of Tajikistan. This facility serves as the primary operational center for Somon Air and acts as the base of operations for Tajik Air, which has its administrative headquarters located on-site.
Currently, the Dushanbe International Airport is served by 13 airlines, including Fly Dubai (UAE), Turkish Airlines (Türkiye), China Airlines (China), Varesh Airlines (Iran), Jazeera Airways (Kuwait), and AZAL (Azerbaijan), Utair, Ural Airlines, Nordwind, S7 Airlines (Russia), Air Astana (Kazakhstan), Uzbekistan Airways, and Somon Air (Tajikistan).
