TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, May 18. The number of operational enterprises and organizations in Uzbekistan's industry sector reached 64,375 as of May 1, Trend reports.
As per data from Uzbekistan’s Statistics Agency, this figure has decreased by 15.5 percent year-on-year (76,236 in 2023).
The number of industrial enterprises accounts for 13.7 percent of the total number of enterprises and organizations in Uzbekistan. A total of 93.9 percent (60,434) of industrial enterprises belong to the manufacturing industry, 3.6 percent (2,348) to mining and quarrying, 1.7 percent (1,090) to water supply, sewerage, waste collection, and disposal, and 0.8 percent (503) to electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning.
Among the Uzbek regions, the city of Tashkent accounted for 11,320 industrial enterprises and organizations during this period. The number of enterprises and organizations in the Tashkent region amounted to 6,822, while this figure fell to 6,788 in the Fergana region.
Meanwhile, the number of enterprises and organizations (without dekhkan and farms) operating in Uzbekistan amounted to 469,300 as of May 1. This figure is 3.9 percent less year-on-year (488,761 enterprises and organizations).
Among operating enterprises and organizations, 400,500 are small enterprises and microfirms.
