BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 10. The US Baker Hughes Energy Technology Company provides a wide range of oilfield services to leading local and international companies, working in Uzbekistan, the company’s spokesperson told Trend.
“In Uzbekistan, Baker Hughes works in partnership with several oil and gas industry players, such as subsoil owners, operators, and extracting and processing companies, including Uzbekneftegaz, Asia Trans Gas, and Surkhan Gas Chemicals, as well as oilfield service and large engineering, procurement, and construction companies,” the company’s representative said.
According to the spokesperson, Baker Hughes’ operations in Uzbekistan contribute towards the increase of extraction volumes and overall efficiency of oil and gas fields, their technological modernization, and the development of gas transportation systems.
“For example, the company’s high-tech gas compressor units are installed at the transnational gas pipeline Turkmenistan – Uzbekistan – Kazakhstan – China,” Baker Hughes spokesperson noted.
The representative from the company emphasized that Baker Hughes also supplied core gas technology equipment for the second phase of the Dengizkul compressor station. The installed package includes two trains with a state-of-the-art NovaLT16 gas turbine and a 2BCL608 compressor. The startup of the trains was successfully performed in 2023, and both gas turbines have been utilized in industrial operation since then.
“Taking into consideration an extensive portfolio of Baker Hughes technologies aimed at enabling energy transition and decarbonization, promising areas of cooperation with Uzbekistan could include the implementation of carbon capture utilization and storage, methane abatement, as well as gas flaring reduction projects,” Baker Hughes’ representative added.
Earlier in May 2024, Baker Hughes signed an agreement with Uzbekneftegas (Uzbekistan's oil and gas company) to provide gas technology services for installed Baker Hughes NovaLT™ gas turbine technology.
The agreement also features a plan to collaborate on exploring additional technology solutions for emissions reduction and energy efficiency.
