TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, October 9. The number of installed POS terminals in Uzbekistan amounted to 423,734 from January through August 2024.
According to the data obtained by Trend from the Central Bank of Uzbekistan (CBU), the volume of installed POS terminals decreased to 255 in August compared to 621 in July 2024.
Uzbekistan’s Xalq Bank is leading the pack with a whopping 45,536 installed POS terminals under its belt. National Bank came in second place with a whopping 39,751 payment terminals, while Aqrobank trailed closely behind with 37,987 POS terminals during this stretch.
The CBU notes that the smallest number of POS terminals was registered in Uzbekistan’s TBC Bank (27) and Bank Saderat Tashkent (27).
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan is actively promoting contactless payment systems by popularizing NFC technology in sales and service points throughout the country and by taking measures to provide QR codes in accordance with the requirements of trade and service points throughout the country.
