BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 14. The volume of flare gas collection in Iran will increase to 40 million cubic meters per day within the next two years (March 20, 2026), Iranian Deputy Oil Minister Houshang Falahatian said, Trend reports.
According to him, the volume of flare gas collected in Iran has increased to 25 million cubic meters per day.
The deputy minister noted that 1.4 million cubic meters of flare gas had been collected in Iran until August 2021 (Iran's current government came to power in August 2021).
Falahatian stated that at the end of the previous year (March 20, 2023), 8.2 million cubic meters of flare gas was collected daily in Iran. Last year (March 21, 2023, through March 20), the amount of flare gas collected in the country increased to 18 million cubic meters per day.
Meanwhile, about 50 million cubic meters of flare gas is flared daily in Iran.
To note, Iran's flare gases will be fully collected by March 20, 2026, and by harvesting the flare gases, Iran will generate $2 billion in revenue.
