Iran reveals volume of non-oil imports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 27. Iran's imports of non-oil products amounted to 24.5 million tons worth $45.1 billion during eight months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through November 20, 2024), Iran's Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance and Director General of Customs Administration Foroud Asghari told local media, Trend reports.

According to him, Iran's imports of non-oil products increased by 6.9 percent in value and decreased by 1.73 percent in weight during eight months compared to last year (from March 21 through November 21, 2023).

Asghari added that Iran imported mainly products from the UAE worth $13.6 billion, China - $11.5 billion, Türkiye - $7.8 billion, Germany - $1.6 billion, Russia - $1.1 billion, India - $1 billion, and Hong Kong - $900 million during the mentioned period. The mentioned countries accounted for 83 percent of Iran's product imports by value and 76.4 percent by weight.

The official noted that Iran imported mainly gold worth $4.6 billion, corn fodder worth $1.8 billion, and cell phones worth $1.5 billion during the eight months.

To note, Iran mainly focuses on the importation of products needed by the country and imposes certain restrictions on the importation of products manufactured in the country.
