BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 6. Iran's imports of non-oil products increased by 5.3 percent in value terms and 11.2 percent in weight terms compared to the same month of last year in the 11th month of the current Iranian year (from January 21 through February 19, 2024), said Rouhollah Latifi, an official of the Central Union of Rural and Agricultural Cooperatives of Iran, Trend reports.

According to Latifi, Iran's non-oil imports totaled above 3 million tons worth $5.42 billion in the eleventh month. He added that in the 11th month, Iran imported about $1.66 billion worth of goods from the UAE, $1.51 billion from China, $715 million from Türkiye, $163 million from Germany, $133 million from India, $128 million from Russia, and $88.9 million from Switzerland.

Latifi noted that in the 11th month, Iran's non-oil trade with other countries amounted to about 14.4 million tons worth about $9.67 billion. This is an 11 percent increase in value and a 26.3 percent increase in weight compared to the same month last year.

Statistics from the Iranian Customs Administration indicated that about 35.8 million tons of products worth about $59.9 billion were imported into Iran during the past 11 months. Iran's product imports increased by 11.1 percent in value terms and 6.4 percent in weight terms compared to the same period last year.

Iran places a high value on importing products to meet the country's needs and sets significant restrictions on importing domestically manufactured goods.
