BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 1. The trilateral meeting between the energy ministers of Iran, Azerbaijan and Russia will contribute to the development of relations in the electric power industry, the Executive Director of the Iranian Power Generation, Transmission and Distribution Company (TAVANIR) Mustafa Rajabi Mashhadi told reporters, Trend reports.
According to him, the necessary coordination was carried out for holding the meeting.
As he explained, the trilateral electricity network between Iran, Azerbaijan and Russia will help to create electricity exchange between the north of the country and neighboring countries.
Mashhadi said that currently it is possible to exchange 300 megawatts (MW) of electricity based on the agreement between Iran, Russia and Azerbaijan.
This volume can be increased to 1,000 MW, and electricity transmission lines are being developed in this regard, he added.
To note, work is being done on the project of creating a North-South energy corridor between Iran, Azerbaijan and Russia. The goal is to synchronize the power grids of the three countries. Necessary design works related to this project were carried out by Iranian Monenko company.
