Israel Materials 3 July 2010 05:44 (UTC +04:00)

Israel will not apologize to Turkey for attack of its military on the international maritime convoy "Freedom flotilla", Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, Anadolu news agency reported.

"In a situation where the gang tries to kill our soldiers an apology by Israel is impossible," Netanyahu said in a televised speech.

The Prime Minister noted that for same reason one can not speak about any form of compensation for victims of the raid.

"However, we regret the loss of lives in the accident", Netanyahu said.

Relations between Turkey and Israel had sharply deteriorated following the May 31 attack on the "Freedom flotilla" which was carrying humanitarian supplies to Gaza Strip by the Israeli military. Nine people, including eight Turkish nationals, were killed in attack, 19 were injured. In response, the Turkish parliament demanded the government to review relations with Israel.
