Police in Hong Kong said Sunday they had seized 13 kg of cocaine with a street value estimated at 1.4 million US dollars and arrested two men who flew in from Canada, dpa reported.
The seizure took place at the city's airport on Saturday in an operation carried out by narcotics agents following intelligence from US Drug Enforcement Adminstration, a Hong Kong police spokesman said.
The cocaine was allegedly wrapped in plastic bags and hidden in four milk powder containers, labelled as body-building milk powder, to bring it into Hong Kong, according to the spokesman. The containers were found in the men's suitcases, police say.
A 51-year-old American man and a Hong Kong man aged 26 were arrested and have been jointly charged with trafficking in dangerous drugs. They are due to appear in Hong Kong's Tsuen Wan magistrates court Monday.
