BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 18. Türkiye's Iskenderun port received more than 38.4 million tons of cargo from January through August 2024.
The data obtained by Trend from the country's Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure shows that 1.7 million tons of cargo were transported from Iskenderun port by vessels under the Turkish flag and 36.6 million tons of cargo by vessels under the flags of other countries.
A total of 3.8 million tons of transit cargo was transported from Iskenderun Port from January through August 2024.
The cargo turnover of Turkish ports in August 2024 amounted to 31.4 million tons. During this period, the cargo flow to the inland ports by Turkish-flagged vessels amounted to more than 2.5 million tons.
“The cargo turnover of vessels under the flags of other countries in the ports of Türkiye amounted to 29 million tons,” the statement of the ministry said.
At the same time, in August 2024, the transit cargo turnover in the ports of Türkiye amounted to 5.6 million tons.
According to the ministry, the ports of Türkiye received 267.8 million tons of cargo from January through August 2024.
“The cargo reception from Turkish-flagged vessels amounted to 19.9 million tons. Meanwhile, by vessels under the flags of other countries, cargo shipments to the ports of Türkiye amounted to 247.8 million tons,” the statement reads.
The report also indicates that about 33.4 million tons of transit cargo were transported from the ports of Türkiye from January through August 2024.
To note, the ports of Türkiye accepted 40,846 vessels from January through August of this year.
The number of vessels accepted to Turkish ports under the flags of other countries during this period amounted to 3,535, and the number of vessels accepted under the flag of Türkiye totaled 2,331.
