Moscow State University hosts presentation of 'Presidential Elections in Kazakhstan. Visions from Russia' report

The Moscow State University hosted a presentation of a 'Presidential Elections in Kazakhstan. Visions from Russia' report on March 17.

The presentation, which was timed to coincide with Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev's visit to Moscow, was attended by experts from Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Israel. The report was prepared by the expert group of specialists of Moscow State University, State Humanitarian University, Eurasian Expert Forum led by a member of Trend Expert Council Alexei Vlasov.

The results of elections in Kazakhstan are not in doubt, Vlasov said in an interview with Trend.
"The position of the current Kazakh leader is strong, real opposition does not participate in the elections, but even if this happens, then it will not have a significant impact on the balance of power," said Vlasov. He added the main partners of Kazakhstan in the CIS - Russia and Azerbaijan are interested in preserving the continuity of policy for mutually beneficial cooperation with Astana.

For Baku, the energy dialogue with Kazakhstan is a key component of national security, said the expert.

Consequently, Vlasov said the expected outcome of the elections will be positively perceived in Azerbaijan and Russia.

"Moreover, our countries have a similar agenda - to diversify the economy, development of innovative component, systems to improve the quality of human capital," said Vlasov.
