Azerbaijan, Baku, 3 July / corr. Trend R.Ergun / The French Embassy in Baku hinder a match between the Azerbaijani and French National Beach Football teams within the framework of the European League. "There was not any mistake in our documents. However, we do not understand the position of the French Embassy on this matter. We could not join the European League because they did not issue us a visa. The Embassy offered us to ask one of our governmental officials to phone to request for visa. We rejected this offer," Jeyhun Khalilbeyli, Secretary General of the Azerbaijani Beach Football Federation (ABFF), told Trend on 3 July.

The Azerbaijani National beach football team was to meet with the French National team within the framework of the European League in Tin on 3 July. As the French Embassy did not issue visa for our team, the visit was cancelled. The winner of the Turkey- UK match could become a rival of these teams at the semifinal.

Khalilbeyli said that the French Embassy deliberately put hindrance for the Azerbaijani National team. "We were to play with the French National team. Perhaps, the Embassy evoked problems so that their team could play at the next stage," official of the Federation said.

The Secretary General of the ABFF said that the Azerbaijani National beach football team can participate in international tournaments, organized in Egypt, Portugal, Russia and Ukraine.

The French Embassy to Azerbaijan refused to comment on this topic.
