Trial started with regards to the head of the World Technological University representation in Baku.
Today Zulfi Babayev provided evidences at the Court on Serious Crimes. He did not recognize himself guilty.
According to him, Baku center "Nab" of the World Technological University, operating in Russia, was opened with an official consent of the University's management, and the training center functioned based on the power of attorney issued to him by the owner of the University. The tuition fee was formalized in an official manner, and the students, who paid monthly fee, were given a receipt, said Babayev.
According to accusations, the founder and director of the Nab LLC Zulfi Babayev abused his official powers.
Without state registration and license, under an agreement signed on Feb. 1, 2008 with the World Technological University YUNESKO, located in Moscow, as well as under power of attorney issued to him by this University, he opened in Baku the representation of the University under the guise of training courses.
Babayev engaged in educational work, presented exam booklets and student tickets to persons, explained the right to distance education which is not envisaged in the legislation of Azerbaijan. He received 700 manat from students or their parents for every person in the different departments of the illegal institution.
The General Prosecutor's Office launched a criminal case on the Articles 192.1 (illegal entrepreneurship) and 308.1 (abuse of power) and 313 (forgery) of the Criminal Code. The General Prosecutor's Office anti-corruption department investigates the case.
Babayev was arrested on March 12 as a result of operational search activities by the Ministry of National Security. A preliminary investigation was conducted by the General Prosecutor's Office anti-corruption department.
